Lake Ontario Lighthouses

Visiting Lake Ontario lighthouses, whether by driving and biking on land or sailing and boating across Lake Ontario, is an adventure in history that requires traveling through two countries. Many of the lighthouses in Lake Ontario mark the St. Lawrence Seaway where international commerce moves from the Atlantic Ocean, through the St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario, and Welland Canal to the other four Great Lakes and the industrial heartland of the United States. The Lake Ontario lighthouses are located in five distinct regions:

1000 Islands

The 1000 Islands region has nine lighthouses:

Eastern New York

In the
eastern New York region of Lake Ontario, there are six lighthouses: Western and Central New York

Visiting the nine lighthouses in western and central New York can be a beautiful and scenic tour whether by boat, car, or bicycle.
Central Lake Ontario, Canada

In the Central Lake Ontario region in Canada, there are nine lighthouses.
Western Lake Ontario, Canada

Western Lake Ontario has eight lighthouses.
Lake Ontario lighthouse visitors should be prepared to see beautiful seasonal colors, particularly, in the autumn and bring binoculars for birding. They will also be able to go bicycling, canoeing, padding, scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, and fishing between lighthouse visits. Throughout Canada and New York, visitors will find challenging golf courses open to the public. Because the Lake Ontario lighthouse tours brings visitors close to the Adirondack Mountains, year round recreational opportunities are available, including hunting, fishing, backpacking, camping, and skiing.
