EQUESTRIAN ACTIVITIES
Michigan is noted for its
equestrians
whether Western style, English, or Dressage. Stables for horseback
riders can be found all over the state-even in the Upper Peninsula of
Michigan where the famous timothy grass grows for the horses of the European Royalty. In mid-Michigan,
there are some fine stables near E. Lansing and outfitters to help
horseback riders find the appropriate attire. Meanwhile in northern Michigan, Leelanau County and the Petoskey
region have great stables. Because equestrian events and casual horseback
riding are becoming more popular in Michigan and, in fact, offered at some
Michigan high schools as club sports, there are summer festivals,
competitions, and rodeos for every equestrian taste. However, horseback trail
riding in the fall is a perfect way to view the autumnal foliage during the
fall color tour season. The fall riding trails are beautiful with their
abundance of color, crisp air, and earthy smells of the falling leaves.
Horse lovers and equestrians can find trails for riding destinations in most
of the states and Canadian provinces. Maine, Delaware,
Virginia, Oklahoma, and Montana, for
example, have wonderful riding trails and equestrian events as do West
Virginia, Wisconsin,
Minnesota, Pennsylvania,
Wyoming, and Colorado.
Horseback riding is a great year-round outdoor activity in all these states,
but it is especially beautiful in the fall.
Some states have state parks that rent horses for trail riding (check states
on TravelUSAonline.com) and Florida has
resorts for outdoor lovers that have horseback riding, kayaking, and hiking.
